THE FIZZLES is an adaptation of a collaborative book containing short prose by Samuel Beckett and etchings by Jasper Johns. This 60-minute, intermedia collaboration incorporates theater, dance, electroacoustic sound, and live and recorded video projection. THE FIZZLES promises a compellingly imperfect meeting of media. Like Beckett and Johns’ Foirades/Fizzles, Piehole’s THE FIZZLES confronts its own hybridity, connecting unbridgeable internal rupture with additional fragmentary, segmented, and collaged-together notes, constantly dis- and reassembling the material of performance. It nevertheless “goes on.”
THE FIZZLES features live sound by LEA BERTUCCI, video projections by ANIELA COVELESKI, choreography by REBECCA WARNER, dramaturgy by ELLIOT QUICK., and performances by MARK LANHAM, ALLISON LAPLATNEY, ANNE TROUP, ALICE WINSLOW, and JEFF WOOD. It is directed by TARA AHMADINEJAD.
